Meet The Founder: Moonie

Meet the Dorset duo

Moonie started off as a dream between a mother and daughter duo who wanted to make sustainable living more affordable, attainable, and accessible for everyone.

As the daughter half of that duo, I grew up in the heart of Dorset, surrounded by beautiful beaches and countryside, which gave me an appreciation for nature from an early age and shaped my passion for keeping the planet clean!

It’s always been such a luxury having green spaces so nearby, whether that’s a quick walk in the park or a last minute trip to the beach.

Today, Moonie is proudly based in Dorset, where my mum and I work side by side in a studio where our eco-friendly products are made. It’s amazing to see the work we do from our little studio being used by people all over the world who are deliberately choosing to live more sustainably.

All about perspective

My career started off completely unrelated to what I do now, but I had always dreamed of creating something more meaningful and true to my values, which became a reality when Moonie was born.

At the time, I wasn’t a mother yet myself but now I am a mum of two and my perspective has shifted as I feel even more passionate about protecting the planet for my children’s future.

Being a new mum whilst being a business owner is just another source of motivation, which reminds me why I began this journey.

Outside of Moonie, I love the simple things in life like reading a good book, baking, and finding local activities and events to go with my family. Dorset continues to inspire me and I feel so grateful to be part of a community of like-minded businesses and individuals who share the same vision of making sustainability the new norm.

Best thing about running your brand?
The best part is knowing we’re giving the option for people to make more sustainable choices and reduce waste.

Hearing from customers who’ve made their first eco-swap because of Moonie is incredibly rewarding. And on top of that, being able to work alongside my mum and share this journey together as a family is what makes it special!

Hardest thing about running your brand?
The hardest part has been keeping up with Moonie’s growth since launching whilst staying true to our core values.

We’ve always promised to keep things authentic, ethical, and genuinely friendly for the planet, which means carefully sourcing our materials and sometimes turning down opportunities that don’t align with our eco-focused ethos.

It can feel challenging at times, but protecting our integrity and keeping Moonie’s mission is at the heart of everything we do.

What are you most proud of?
I’m proud that what started off as a small family idea has turned into a brand that is making a real difference, just knowing that so many people are choosing eco-friendly swaps through us is hugely rewarding.

Looking forward, I see Moonie expanding our range and creating even more products to replace items that aren’t so planet-friendly, and by providing those sustainable options for everyone it gives people the opportunity to make greener choices.

Where do you see your brand going?
Looking forward, one of my main goals is to grow the Moonie team by bringing in a new team member, which will allow us to keep creating and expanding our range of eco-friendly products.

We have an exciting Christmas collection launching soon which I can’t wait to share! At the same time, I want to make sure I’m providing a positive and nurturing upbringing for my children, and I feel like building on the brand to have a greater positive impact on the planet goes hand in hand with creating a greener future for my children.

Moonie Beach Day

Aside from your brand, how would you describe yourself?
Outside of Moonie, I’d describe myself as a family-oriented and driven person, and a little bit donut-obsessed. I love reading, baking, and making memories with my kids, especially if that includes a fun arts and crafts activity for us all to do or a picnic in the park.

What are you doing on a Sunday afternoon?
Sundays are for slowing down, going out for a Sunday walk on a nice trail and enjoying the fresh air is never regrettable and nature always gives me that boost for the week ahead. Then coming home and baking a sweet treat or cooking a hot meal always feels cosy!
